This one is located in Moscow, the capital city of the Russian Federation. Here we go;

If one asks a question as to which profession you consider the most important, the majority will immediately insist that being a doctor is the most important profession of all. Sechenov when it was founded in 1758 and became the successor of the Medical Faculty of the Imperial Moscow University. 

Today I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University represents the largest medical, scientific and clinical complex in Russia, and along with that proudly holds the position of one of the most prestigious medical universities of Russia. The University structure comprises more than 50 buildings, 40 laboratory centers, 7 research institutions and 14 faculties: faculty of General Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, that of Preventive Medicine, of Nursing Care, of Scientific and Pedagogic Personnel Training, Faculty for Foreign Students, Faculty of Military Training, Faculty of Public Health Management along with the faculties of Postgraduate Education.   

The University is widely known both inside and outside of Russia.  I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University has established partnership relations with more than 20 universities of the United States of America, Germany, Austria, France, Denmark, Sweden and the CIS member states. The University maintains connections with various international educational, scientific and medical societies, establishments and associations. I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University is a part of such global projects as TEMPUS IV, Erasmus, Tasis. More than 140 professors of the University are members of one or several international scientific and professional societies, organizations and associations. More than 200 professors and students are sent abroad annually. Over 100 University specialists participate in more than 60 international forums. Leading scientists from all over the world come to give lectures at the University (every year more than 100 international specialists come to the University).  In 2012 I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University was honored to receive Mr. Barry James Marshall, the Australian Nobel Prize laureate in Physiology and Medicine, as a guest lecturer and his speech was attended by V.I. Skvortsova, the then-Minister of Public Health of the Russian Federation.

I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University is an active member of World Heath Organization (WHO). WHO centers for Nursing Care and Obstetrics, Tuberculosis and 3-day Malaria were created on the basis of the University. From the year 1975 onwards I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University is a member of the International Association of Universities and has strong ties with such leading world organizations as “Doctors Without Borders”, “International Red Cross”, “Open Society Institute”, The World Bank, UNESCO, several international student exchange commitees. 

Presently more than 14 000 students study at the University, and over 2 000 of them are foreign students from more than 75 countries of the world. Over 2 300 highly qualified practicing professors teach at I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical. The atmosphere in the University is both cosmo-political and friendly. Russian, English, French, Chinese, Arab and other languages are frequently spoken within the university walls. Nevertheless, during the classes the students speak and think in only one language – the language of Medicine. 

I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University was one of the first to start the admission of foreign students back in 1949. Nowadays about 20 % of the students are foreign students and this fact has secured I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University’s the first place in the list of Russian medical universities in terms of the number of foreign students. 

The University offers to foreign students, apart from such specialties as General Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy, to pursue a wide range of programs of professional medical education, in particular Preventive Medicine, Pediatrics, Social Work and Public Health Management. Foreign students are also offered the opportunity to enter postgraduate programs (clinical residency and PhD) for more than 100 specialties. 

Educational process does not only consist of exams and tests. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University was established in 1897 and at the time was recognized as one of the best in the world. Candidates for studies in Russian State Universities, who don’t speak Russian language, are firstly admitted to the Foundation Course (duration is 1 academic year) to study Russian language and improve the level of knowledge in major special subjects up to the required for further study at the University on the chosen specialty. Tuition, accommodation in a student hostel and insurance fees, stipulated in US dollars, are an approximate equivalent of tuition fees in Russian rubles. The actual tuition and accommodation fees may be slightly corrected due to the US dollars /Russian ruble exchange rate correlation on the International Monetary Exchange as on the date of the tuition, accommodation and insurance fees invoice issuance.

The price for legalization of the documents which is required to obtain the ‘Certificate of Equivalence’, obligatory for all international students, in Rosobrnadzor (Department of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation) is 6500 Russian rubles (which is equivalent to approximately 100 US dollars). All the activities concerning the preparation of the documentation package required to obtain the equivalence certificate and the equivalence procedure itself are undertaken by the student himself/herself at their own expense.

The above-mentioned fees for tuition, accommodation in student hostel, life and health insurance are valid only for 2016/2017 academic year.

During the initial registration procedure the candidate pays a enrollment fee of 300 USD which covers the charges for the issuance of the invitation letter for studies, sending the original and other documents to the candidate’s country of the permanent residence by express mail (DHL), meeting the candidate at the international airport in Moscow, transfer and accompanying to the Institute, drawing up documents for admission to the Institute for studies, registration fee, etc. Average food expenses are not less than 400 USD per month. When first entering Russia, the candidate should have about 500 USD to buy some basic necessities and personal things (clothes, dishes, electrical equipment, etc.). SD per month.
